Floor Insulation

The U value for floors can be no more than 0.25W/m2K on both new buildings and extensions to existing buildings. This requirement is set out in Part L of the Building Regulations.

The most common form of insulation used for floor insulation in Ireland is Polyiso. We stock Polyiso floor insulation from three manufacturers, XtrathermKingspan and Quinntherm. This ensures our prices always remain competitive and service is never compromised.

The insulation comes in 2.4m x 1.2m sheets. It is recommended that you cross and tape the joints. For example, if you are putting in 100mm, one option is to use two sheets of 50mm and put one sheet opposite to the other, or you can use a NEW product from Xtratherm which is 100mm Tongued and grooved. This is also available in 125mm.

It is best practice to tape the joints with foil tape and the insulation should be covered with light 500 gauge polythene to protect it from any contact with the concrete screed.

Where height has not been allowed for we can provide a multi foil product which will satisfy your requirement of 0.25W/m2K.
