The Role Purpose:

The purpose of the roles is to ensure that our customers have a positive experience when they need to purchase key items for their farms.   The individuals will be required to be able to advise on different products, their usage and how to make the best use of each item.   We have built up very positive long-term relationships with our key customers and suppliers and very much value sustaining those relationships.  The individuals in the role will be required to contribute to the enhancement of those relationships through the provision of excellent customer service and sound practical advice.  Many of the items we sell are large, heavy, and bulky consequently the work is physically demanding requiring the individual to be suitably fit, strong, and capable of undertaking bouts of strenuous manual labour in all weathers.  

The business opening hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30 and Saturday 09:00 to 13:00.  The successful applicant must be available to work 2 Saturday’s per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service, be able to communicate well with customers and suppliers.
  • Take charge of the facility when the Director is away.
  • Be comfortable with keyholder responsibilities
  • Be able to manage a POS terminal with cash and card transactions
  • Manage the process of ordering, receiving, and putting away of stock (merchandising)
  • Be able to quickly identify operational challenges & opportunities and develop a plan to improve operations.
  • Using sound relationship management and business acumen, contribute to a diverse team in exceeding goals and commitments.
  • Be an advocate for making doing business with Glynns easy.
  • Use point of sale and stock software package.
  • Focus on compliance & paperwork
  • Responsible for selling equipment and tools – an interest in farm technology would be valuable

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ relevant work experience within a retail or distribution environment
  • Able to use IT software packages.
  • Strong written/oral communication skills required along with desire and ability to communicate with customers and stakeholders.
  • Outstanding attention to detail combined with an ability to see the big picture
    Ability to quickly grasp and understand retail processes, problems, and concepts.
    Experience operating in a dynamic environment
    Good analytical and organization skills
  • High energy individual with a “can do” attitude with an ability to undertake tough manual work
  • Level6 Retail, Sale & Supply of Animal Remedies. Responsible person registration with Department of Agriculture, Forklift, Manual Handling Safety & Occupational First Aid Certification all required. (if a candidate does not have these certificates training will be provided but the individual must be prepared to obtain these certifications within 3 months of joining as a condition of employment)
